Femodette: What is it?

These Hormonal contraceptive pills are known as femodette tablets. Femodette pills are combination oral contraceptives that contain two active ingredients: gestodene and ethynylestradiol, which are synthetic forms of the female sex hormones progesterone and oestrogen. Third-generation synthetic progesterone is called gestodene; synthetic oestrogen is called ethynylestradiol.

How Does Femodette act?

Two synthetic forms of the female sex hormones, progesterone and oestrogen, called ethynylestradiol and gestodene, are the active constituents in Femodette tablets.

Femodette and other combined oral contraceptives function by interfering with the regular menstrual cycle. The amounts of sex hormones fluctuate from month to month in a woman's menstrual cycle. Hormones trigger the release of an egg from the ovaries during ovulation, preparing the lining of the womb for the potential of pregnancy. If the egg has not been fertilised, the hormone levels drop at the conclusion of each menstrual cycle, resulting in the monthly menstrual period, which is the shedding of the womb lining.

The primary way that the hormone pill's daily dosage acts is by tricking the body into thinking that ovulation has already taken place. By doing this, the ovaries are unable to mature and release an egg each month.

Additionally, the hormones thicken the womb's natural mucus around the neck, which makes it more difficult for sperm to pass through the vagina into the womb and fertilise an egg. Additionally, the hormones alter the lining of the womb, making it less favourable for the implantation of a fertilised egg.

What advantages does Femodette use offer?

Femodette is a reliable method of contraception that helps women avoid getting pregnant. The synthetic progesterone and oestrogen in the drug fool the body into believing that ovulation has taken place. It stops an egg from maturing and being released from the ovaries. Femodette effectively thickens the natural mucus at the neck of the womb, preventing sperm from easily passing from the vagina into the womb and preventing conception even in cases where an egg is fertilised and discharged by the ovaries.

How should I use Femodette?

Femodette tablets are monophasic, meaning that each one has the same amount of hormones. Femodette is taken once daily for 21 days, interspersed with seven days off from medication. Hormone levels in the blood will fall during the seven-day interval, causing withdrawal bleeding that resembles your regular menstrual cycle. When the seven days without pills are up, start the following pack even if you are still bleeding.

To make it easier to remember that you must take the Femodette tablets every day for the next three weeks, followed by a week off, the tablets come in a calendar pack with the days of the week marked. As long as you take all of the pills as prescribed and begin taking the following packet of medications on schedule, you will remain protected from getting pregnant throughout the pill-free week.

Take the pill at the same time every day to make sure you remember to take it. One Femodette tablet with a glass of water is recommended. Femodette may be taken anyway, with or without food.

For the drug to prevent pregnancy, you should begin taking the Femodette pill on the first day of your monthly cycle. Femodette does not require the use of any other kind of birth control. You won't be protected against pregnancy if you start taking the tablets on the fifth day of your period if you have a very short menstrual cycle.

If the doctor is quite certain that you are not pregnant, you can begin taking this medication at any point during your pregnancy. Any other point in your cycle will not prevent you from becoming pregnant if you start the pill. For the first seven days after starting the pill, you may need to utilise additional types of contraception, including a condom.

The 21st day after giving birth is when you can begin taking the pill if you are not breastfeeding. For the first seven days, use additional birth control, such as a condom.

You will be protected against pregnancy right away if you begin taking the pill right away following a miscarriage or abortion that occurs before 24 weeks of pregnancy. For the first seven days after starting the pill, more than seven days after an abortion or miscarriage, you should take additional contraception.

Even if you have to take two pills at once, take the missing pill as soon as you remember if you start the pack of pills one day later or forget to take a pill. Then, proceed with taking the remaining pack in the prescribed order. You don't need to use additional contraception because you are still protected against getting pregnant.

You will not be protected against pregnancy if you start the fresh pack two or more days late or if you neglect to take the two pills. You will need to take two tablets for the day: the pill for the day and the last pill you skipped. Put the other pill you missed out of your mind. After that, take the remaining medications in the pack on time. You should abstain from sexual activity and avoid using extra-barrier methods of contraception, such as condoms.

After your final missed dose, if there are less than seven pills left in the pack, finish the pack and begin a new pack right away, skipping the seven-day pill-free days.

Within two hours of taking a tablet, vomiting may occur, which could prevent the medication from entering the bloodstream completely. As soon as you feel better, take another medication, and then take the following one at your regular time. You'll still be shielded from becoming pregnant.

You cannot avoid the danger of sexually transmitted illnesses by using a femodette. To prevent sexually transmitted illnesses, you must use condoms.

When using Femodette for the first time, women may have spotting, breakthrough bleeding, or skipped periods, among other menstrual irregularities. Should you continue to bleed, see your physician. Use a pregnancy test before beginning the following month's contraceptive cycle if you have not experienced a withdrawal bleed for two consecutive months.

What is the appropriate Femodette dosage?

For the first three weeks or 21 days, one Femodette pill should be taken every day. There will be a seven-day pill-free day after it. You should begin taking the pills from a fresh pack of Femodette tablets after going seven days without taking any.
