The active ingredients of Zoely tablets, a type of hormonal contraceptive pill, are nomegestrol, a synthetic version of progesterone, and estradiol, an estrogenic form that is found in the body. The Zoely pill’s daily hormone dose primarily induces the body to think that ovulation has already taken place. By doing this, the ovaries are unable to mature and release an egg each month. Additionally, Dr Newtons offers Zoely for subscription purchases, which will save you both money and time!

More Information

What is Zoely?

Estradiol, a naturally occurring form of oestrogen, and nomegestrol, a synthetic form of progesterone, are the two active ingredients in Zoely tablets, a type of hormonal contraceptive pill.

Zoely is used to treat heavy, painful, or irregular menstruation issues as well as prevent pregnancy.

How does Zoely work?

Estradiol and nomegestrol are the two active components in Zoely. Overriding the regular menstrual cycle is how combined contraceptives, such as Zoely, function. The amounts of the sex hormone fluctuate every month during a woman's menstrual cycle. The ovaries release an egg during ovulation as a result of hormones that prime the uterine lining for potential pregnancy. The shedding of the uterine lining at the monthly menstrual period is caused by a drop in hormone levels at the conclusion of each menstrual cycle if the egg has not been fertilised.

The Zoely pill's daily hormone dose primarily induces the body to think that ovulation has already taken place. By doing this, the ovaries are unable to mature and release an egg each month.

In order to hinder sperm from passing from the vaginal canal into the womb and reaching an egg for fertilisation, the hormones in Zoely tablets also thicken the natural mucus at the womb's neck. Additionally, the hormones alter the lining of the womb, making it less favourable for the implantation of a fertilised egg.

What advantages does using Zoely offer?

Zoely successfully avoids conception by doing the following:

  • The ovaries are tricked into thinking that ovulation has taken place, so they stop releasing an egg that the sperm may fertilise.
  • Thicker mucus near the uterine neck makes it challenging for sperm to enter the uterus.
  • Making the womb's lining unsuitable for a fertilised egg's attachment.
How Should I use Zoely?

Zoely is a daily medication. One tablet must be taken each day. The tablets are packaged in strips of 28, comprising four small, inactive yellow tablets and 24 small, active white tablets.

The pack of Zoely tablets specifies the exact order in which they should be taken, starting with tablet number one. Additionally, self-adhesive strips featuring each day of the week are included with the tablets. These are meant to indicate to you which day is best for each tablet. Remove a strip beginning on the day you start, such as Friday. Pick the strip beginning with "Fri." Place it such that the first day is above the tablet with the word "start" on top of the tablet strip. Now, it's simple to see which day each medication needs to be taken.

The final four inactive pills are meant to help you become accustomed to taking a pill at the same time every day by simply taking one packet at a time. Unlike regular contraceptive pills, which you take for 21 days and then skip a week of tablets, this one is different.

As long as you take the active medications as prescribed, taking the inactive tablets won't prevent you from becoming pregnant. It will be easier for you to remember to take your dose if you take each at the same time every day. You can take Zoely pills with or without food.

For the pill to begin protecting you against pregnancy right away, you should begin taking it on the first day of your menstrual cycle. Using Zoely does not need you to use any other kind of birth control. You won't be protected against pregnancy if you start taking the tablets on the fifth day of your period if you have a very short menstrual cycle.

If the doctor is certain that you are not pregnant, you can begin taking this medication at any point during your cycle. Any other point in your cycle will not prevent you from becoming pregnant if you start the pill. For the first seven days after starting the pill, you may need to utilise additional types of contraception, including a condom.

On the twenty-first day following delivery, if you are not breastfeeding and have recently given birth, you can begin taking the pill. For the first seven days, use additional birth control, such as a condom.

You will be protected against pregnancy as soon as possible if you begin taking the pill right away following a miscarriage or abortion at less than 24 weeks. For the first seven days after starting the pill, more than seven days after an abortion or miscarriage, you should take additional contraception.

Even if you have to take two pills at once, take the missing pill as soon as you remember if you start the pack of pills one day later or forget to take a pill. Then, proceed with taking the remaining pack in the prescribed order. You don't need to use additional contraception because you are still protected against getting pregnant.

You will not be protected against pregnancy if you start the fresh pack two or more days late or if you neglect to take the two pills. You will need to take two tablets for the day: the pill for the day and the last pill you skipped. Put the other pill you missed out of your mind. Then, proceed with taking the remaining Zoely tablets according to the prescribed dosage. You should abstain from sexual activity and avoid using extra-barrier methods of contraception, such as condoms.

After your last missed dose, if there are fewer than seven pills left in the Zoely pack, finish the pack and begin a new pack right away, skipping the four inactive pills.

Within two hours of taking a tablet, vomiting may occur, which could prevent the medication from entering the bloodstream completely. As soon as you feel better, take another medication, and then take the following one at your regular time. You'll still be shielded from becoming pregnant.

You cannot avoid sexually transmitted illnesses with Zoely. To prevent sexually transmitted illnesses, you must use condoms.

First-time Zoely users may have menstrual irregularities like spotting, breakthrough bleeding, or skipped periods. Should you continue to bleed, see your physician. Before beginning the following month's contraceptive cycle, do a test to ensure you are not pregnant if you have not been bleeding for two consecutive months.
