More Information

What is Gedarel?

The female contraceptive pill Gedarel offers nearly 100% protection against unintended pregnancy. Desogestrel and ethinylestradiol, the two active components, are present in the same concentration in what is referred to as a monophasic combination contraceptive. Oestrogen and progesterone, two female sex hormones, are synthetic forms of these substances.

How does Gedarel work?

The two active components of gedarel are ethinylestradiol and desogestrel. The progesterone and oestrogen hormones are synthetically produced in these two components. These two hormones regulate the ovulation process, which is the release of an egg from the ovaries so that it can be fertilised. To stop the release of an egg, the chemicals in this pill mimic these hormones. Moreover, it thickens cervix mucus, which hinders sperm cells' ability to enter the uterus.

How should Gedarel be used?

Gedarel usually functions best if taken on the first day of your period, though this isn't always feasible. You can prevent pregnancy right away by taking the pill throughout the first five days of your menstrual cycle. The tablet should be taken once a day for a total of 21 days. You take the medication for 21 days, and then you cease for seven days. You will bleed during this period just like you would ordinarily. You start the subsequent 21-day tablet regimen after your seven-day break ends.

To make sure your medication is successful, take it at roughly the same time every day. Even if it is almost time for your next dose, you should still take your prescription as prescribed if you skip a day. Even if you skip one dosage, you are usually safe from getting pregnant.

What advantages does Gedarel offer?

The following are a few of Gedarel's primary advantages:

  • Its effectiveness in preventing conception is almost perfect.
  • It may lessen the discomfort associated with menstruation.
  • It has the potential to lessen your menstrual flow.
  • It can lower the chance of colon, ovarian, and uterine cancer.
What is the appropriate Gedarel dosage?

The Gedarel that you may get from Dr Newtons has two strengths. 150 mcg/20 mcg and 150 mcg/30 mcg are these. The amounts of desogestrel and ethinylestradiol in each tablet are shown by these numbers. For instance, a tablet containing 150 mcg of ethinylestradiol and 20 mcg of desogestrel is labelled 150 mcg/20 mcg. We offer 63 and 126 tablet package sizes. These work well for three and six months, respectively.

How does one begin taking Gedarel?

A good time to start taking Gedarel is on the first day of your period, provided you haven't taken another hormonal contraceptive for at least a month before starting. To be safe, you should start taking Gedarel right away after taking your final contraceptive pill if you have previously used one.
