Qlaira: What is it?

Qlaira Pill for Contraception

Known as "the pill," Qlaira tablets are hormonal contraceptives. Dienogest and estradiol valerate are mixed in this oral contraceptive tablet. When metabolised in the body, estradiol, a synthetic form of the female hormone oestrogen, becomes natural oestrogen. Progesterone is produced artificially as dienogest.

Qlaira is a contraceptive pill. Additionally, it is used to stop excessive menstrual bleeding that has no known cause.

How Does Qlaira Work?

Progesterone and oestrogen, two naturally occurring female sex hormones, are synthetically produced and found in Qlaira tablets. The typical menstrual cycle in Qlaira is overridden by the combination of two hormones. The amounts of sex hormones fluctuate from month to month in a woman's menstrual cycle. Hormones trigger the release of an egg from the ovaries during ovulation, preparing the lining of the womb for the potential of pregnancy. If the egg has not been fertilised, the hormone levels drop at the conclusion of each menstrual cycle, which causes the uterine lining to shed monthly throughout the menstrual period.

The Qlaira pill's daily hormone dose primarily induces the body to think that ovulation has already taken place. This prevents a mature egg from being released by the ovaries.

When Qlaira hormones are present, the natural mucus near the uterine neck is thicker. Because of the thick mucus, the sperm finds it difficult to enter through the womb's neck and cannot fertilise an egg in the uterus.

Additionally, the hormones alter the lining of the womb, making it less favourable for the implantation of a fertilised egg.

What advantages does Qlaira use offer?

Qlaira successfully avoids conception by doing the following:

  • The ovaries are tricked into thinking that ovulation has taken place, so they stop releasing an egg that the sperm may fertilise.
  • Thicker mucus near the uterine neck makes it challenging for sperm to enter the uterus.
  • Making the womb's lining unsuitable for a fertilised egg's attachment.
How is Qlaira taken?

There are four different kinds of active tablets in each box of Qlaira pills. Every tablet has a slightly varied hormone dosage. Two dark yellow tablets have three milligrammes of estradiol; five medium red tablets have two milligrammes of estradiol and two milligrammes of dienogest; seventeen light yellow tablets have two milligrammes of estradiol and three milligrammes of dienogest; and the two dark red tablets have one milligramme of estradiol. There are two inactive white tablets in the pack to complete the pack.

Starting with the pill with the number "1," the tablets in the pack must be taken orally in the order indicated on the label. Along with the tablets, self-adhesive strips with the days of the week printed on them are included. These symbols will direct you as to which pill you should take on any given day.

That starts on the day you are born. Peel off the strip. Put the "Mon" strip over the top of the tablet strip if you begin on a Monday in order to indicate the first day of the pack. Now, you can quickly discover which day is next for you to take.

In order to avoid forgetting to take your first dose when you start the following pack, the final two inactive tablets are meant to be taken continuously. With the inactive pills, your protection against getting pregnant is still intact.

After taking the final of the two inactive tablets, you will begin the next pack the following day, assuming nothing unexpected occurs.

To help you remember to take your daily dosage, it is a good idea to take the pill at the same time every day. You can take the tablets with or without food.

Take the Qlaira tablets as directed by the package, starting with the pill with the number "1."

Take the pill on the first day of your menstrual cycle if this is your first time using a hormonal contraceptive. You will be completely protected against getting pregnant by doing this.

Start taking the first Qlaira pill on the day you are meant to start taking the first pill in the pack of preceding pills if you are switching from another combination oral contraceptive to Qlaira.

The day you stop using the contraceptive skin patches or vaginal ring is the day you should begin taking the Qlaira tablets. This will immediately protect you from becoming pregnant.

You can begin taking the pill on the 21st day after giving birth if you are not breastfeeding and have recently given birth. No more contraceptives are necessary because you are immediately protected.

It is possible to begin taking the pill between days 21 and 28 following delivery if you are not breastfeeding or had an abortion during the second trimester. As soon as you are protected, there's no need to utilise further contraception.

Even if you have to take two pills at once, take the missing dose as soon as you remember if you start the pack of pills one day later or fail to take the medication. Then, proceed with taking the remaining pack in the prescribed order. You don't need to use additional contraception because you are still protected against getting pregnant.

Simply throw away any white tablets you forget to take and take the next one as usual. Even if you need to take two pills in one day, take the active medication as soon as you recall if you forget to take it. Take your medication as usual the following day. See your doctor for help if you miss more than one pill.

After taking a pill, if you throw up within three or four hours, the medication might not enter your system completely. When you feel well enough, take another pill within 12 hours after the last dose. At your regular time, take the following medication. You might not be protected if you take another medication more than 12 hours after taking the first one and/or if you are still unwell. Consult your physician for guidance on medical matters.

What is the appropriate Qlaira dosage?

The Qlaira tablet is designed to be taken one tablet at a time until all of the pills, including the two inactive pills, are finished. As soon as the final pill is taken, begin a new pack the next day.
